A Holistic Approach to Healthy Living
Welcome to Healthy Blender. I like to think of this as my personal experiment in living a healthy lifestyle. It is a holistic approach to health that involves finding a healthy blend that works for you based on these three basic building blocks: your diet, your body, and your world.
By following a holistic approach to health I aim to improve the quality of life for myself, those that I love, as well as the environment around me. Being healthy is about balancing the internal and external factors that contribute to our overall health. To feel happy, healthy, energetic and fulfilled we must pay attention to the foods we eat, learn to listen to and respect our body, balance our emotional and mental states, and be aware of how we interact with others and our physical environment.
My Quest for Healthy Living
My name is Josh and I am on a quest to make my life healthier. It's not like I currently live a completely unhealthy lifestyle, but I know there are a lot of areas where I could improve and even more things that I just don't know much about. My wife and I are expecting our third child this year and I intend to find what works not only for me but for my family as well.
I am running this blog to commit myself to a healthier lifestyle. By becoming more educated on the most effective holistic health practices I can help to provide a healthy atmosphere for myself, my family and my world. I hope that along the way I can help you too.
I don't have any formal training in health, fitness, or nutrition but I do enjoy reading and research. I will do my best to share my informed opinion and provide additional resources for further research.
A Healthy Lifestyle in an Unhealthy Culture
I'm frightened by the industrialization of our food system and what has become a commonly accepted way of life. Health has taken a back seat to convenience and this is not a sustainable path in the long run. There is so much unnecessary stress not to mention all of the diseases and modern maladies that clearly stem from the lifestyle that many have fallen into. I want to spread the concept of a holistic approach to health, energy and happiness to as many people as possible. It is not as hard as most people think and it starts with the conscious decision to be healthy.
You Can Choose to be Healthy Too
The biggest step toward becoming healthy is deciding that you want to make the commitment to be healthy. For many this step is deceptively difficult. Of course pretty much everyone wants to be healthy but we can usually only come up with vague statements as to how we can actually do it. For others the hardest part is sticking to a healthy plan. I think that many diets and exercises are impractical or too radically challenging for some folks to implement in their day-to-day lives. That is why I am focusing on practical tips that you can implement today.

The connection between our physical and mental health is critical to achieving holistic health. We'll talk about how you can increase your physical fitness through: increased physical activity in your everyday routine, specific exercises and workouts, yoga, stretching, balance, posture, massage and more. We'll also cover topics that help to promote a healthy mental state like: meditation, breathing, inspiration, creativity, life goals, simplicity and zen principles, as well as the science of happiness and depression.
Here we will discuss topics such as our ecological footprint, personal and familial relationships, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and community outreach.
